BIGS revolutionises self-learning !!!
-
The teacher's experiment becomes a pupil's experiment.
-
Every pupil can carry it out on one's private variety of machines such as PC, laptop, iPad or tablet.
-
The BIGS simulation experiment is now also applicable in interaction with whiteboard (teacher) and iPads (pupil).
The teaching aids on display can be bought here as campus or single licence for your PC, laptop or the multimedial whiteboard (see table 'price overview').
You will receive the corresponding app, depending on for what you need it - iPad or tablet - at "iTunes" or "Android Market". Further and more precise information can be found there under the headword "Elektronenstrahl" or "electron beam".
The teaching aid "electron beam in crossed fields" was partly developed in cooperation with the Duden schoolbook publishing house. It is particularly well-suited because it supports the self-learning of pupils. It contains:
- a simulation of the real experiment with correspondingly guided work assignments or with open work assignments.
- a testing of the acquired knowledge in the form of exercises and solutions.
-
as well as didactic directtions.
Details concerning the content of this teaching aid can be found further below.
Appart from its use in the classroom, you should also use the teaching aid for the special preparations of the A-levels

your name and address for invoicing (and delivery, if applicable).
BIGS will then send you an invoice (pdf format) and bank details for the transfer. When we receive payment, we will send you a confirmation.
You can download the package on the day when we receive payment. If we send you the package on CD ROM by mail, delivery may take up to four working days (possibly longer outside Germany).
Details of the content. The package includes:
-
A simulation with results based on those of the real experiment
(in swf, exe and app files which can be downloaded from the BIGS server or delivered on CD ROM, together with the package) -
Work assignments
4 worksheets based on the simulation. These allow students to learn independently on their own PCs, laptops, phones, pads, tabs or whiteboards. For example, they can learn how to determine the specific charge of an electron. -
The worksheets cover the following topics:
-
an introduction to working with the simulation
-
qualitative and quantitative investigations of the behaviour of an electron beam in an electric and magnetic field using the simulation
-
determination of the specific charge (q/m) of the electron, speed filters, reporting on experiment
-
discussion of the origin of the electron beam as a cycloid, using cycloids in mathematics – use of GeoGebra (sixth-form level, no solution using differential equation)
(the package includes pdf and GeoGebra files, which can either be downloaded from the BIGS server or are supplied on CD ROM together with the other material)
-
-
A test consisting of four questions with answers. (some of them examination level). The purpose of the tests is to assess the knowledge acquired by the student and to call for the student to apply it in other areas
(the package includes pdf files, which can either be downloaded from the BIGS server or are supplied on CD ROM together with the other material) -
Educational notes on the package.
