This simulation allows you to learn more about the behaviour of electrons in crossed electric and magnetic fields (Braun tube, cathode ray). The photo above shows an experimental setup produced by Phywe. The simulation is based on the course of the electron beams.

If you click on "read more ...", you will find more explanation about the "Electrons in a electric field".
- If you switch off the electric field and leave the magnetic field on, you will see the effect of the Lorentz force alone. To view the effect of the electric field, just switch the magnetic field off.
- If you switch both fields on, you will see the course of an electron beam subjected to both forces at the same time.
- If you change the acceleration voltage of the electrons, i.e. their initial speed, you will see the expected interaction with the magnetic field (Lorentz force).
Please note that the course of the electron beam in the simulation is based on a mathematical formula which cannot fully describe the actual course. In order to draw further conclusions from this simulation, you should also carry out the real experiment.
